Welcome to the Grotte des Demoiselles, we are open every day. The visit is accessible in all weathers, with no risk of flooding (the river Hérault is 200m below), so you'll be safe from bad weather. We even recommend that you visit the cave during heavy rains, so that you can fully enjoy the sound atmosphere. What's more, it's also very pleasant during the hot summer months, offering guaranteed coolness. Booking is highly recommended!

For a moment of sharing, emotion and celebration, something to delight you and warm hearts with music!

Like the famous Viennese New Year’s Concert, the Grotte des Demoiselles now has its Grand Christmas Concert: a magical and warm musical event, in the spirit of the holiday season. After the success of the 2019 and 2021 editions, a new edition is proposed in the heart of the underground cathedral to bring to life in music the magic of the holidays to the rhythm of the most beautiful Christmas songs of the world.

ON SCHEDULE:

An exceptional concert by the Vocal and Instrumental Ensemble of Montpellier (40 singers) conducted by Franck Fontcouberte with soloists Michel Bourguet, Nathalie Cases, Juliette Hammel, Brigitte Morin ; and Karine Léonelli, piano.

Europe traditional Christmas carols: France, Germany, England, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Ukraine.

Famous arias from operas by Bizet, Donizetti, Handel, Purcell and Verdi

Practical information:

  • Concert time: 6pm

  • Duration of the concert: 1h15 approximately

  • Book online or by phone at 04 67 73 70 02 (during opening hours)

  • Same-day ticket collection at the ticket office 45 minutes before the start of the concert

  • Entrance to the cave will be from 5:15 pm to 5:50 pm with regular access via the funicular until the beginning of the concert

  • You will be able to settle in the Cathedral Hall with respect for places and security. It is possible and recommended to bring a small cushion or a small folding to sit more comfortably. Some chairs will be available for people with reduced mobility.

  • The constant temperature in the cave is 15°C. We recommend you wear warm clothing and suitable footwear.
