Christmas concert

Like the famous Viennese New Year’s Concert, the Grotte des Demoiselles now has its Grand Christmas Concert: a magical and warm musical event, in the spirit of the holiday season. After the success of the 2022 and 2023 editions, a new edition is proposed in the heart of the underground cathedral to bring to life in music the magic of the holidays to the rhythm of the most beautiful Christmas songs of the world.

A unique musical moment carried by Vivaldi’s Gloria

Every year, the Grotte des Demoiselles transforms into a privileged venue for celebrating the holiday season through an exceptional musical experience.

On Saturday, December 20th, 2025, at 6:00 pm, the majestic underground Cathedral will once again host its Grand Christmas Concert, an unmissable event for many visitors.

This year’s edition will spotlight Vivaldi’s Gloria, a luminous and energetic work perfectly suited to embody the joyful spirit of Christmas. Performed by the Ensemble Vocal et Instrumental de Montpellier — nearly 40 choristers — under the direction of Franck Fontcouberte, the Gloria will resonate through one of the most impressive natural settings in the region. The cavern’s pure acoustics give each note remarkable depth, creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and grand.

In addition to the Gloria, the program will feature numerous traditional Christmas songs from across Europe — France, Germany, England, Hungary… Warm melodies, sometimes familiar, sometimes more rare, that evoke the convivial and radiant spirit of the season.

The presence of soloists Juliette Hammel (soprano), Nathalie Cases (mezzo-soprano) and Karine Leonelli (piano) will further enrich this already exceptional concert.

Between the raw beauty of the grotto, its impressive volumes, and the power of the voices rising within it, this Christmas Concert offers a truly unique experience — a moment out of time, filled with emotion, wonder, and sharing, to enjoy with family or friends.

• Concert time: 6pm

• Duration of the concert: 1h15 approximately

• Book online or by phone at 04 67 73 70 02 (during opening hours)

• Same-day ticket collection at the ticket office 45 minutes before the start of the concert

• Entrance to the cave will be from 5:15 pm to 5:50 pm with regular access via the funicular until the beginning of the concert

• You will be able to settle in the Cathedral Hall with respect for places and security. It is possible and recommended to bring a small cushion or a small folding to sit more comfortably. Some chairs will be available for people with reduced mobility.

• The constant temperature in the cave is 15°C. We recommend you wear warm clothing and suitable footwear.
